There Will Be a Final Fantasy Versus XIII… Eventually.
According to Yoichi Wada, the CEO of Square-Enix, the recent rumors that Final Fantasy XIII has been scrapped are false. Not only did he say that the game was still being created, but he also stated that he had just left a meeting for it.
He said this on Twitter earlier this morning–and I would have let you guys know about it sooner, I swear. However, my Japanese is a little bit rusty (non-existent), so I had to wait for someone to translate his Twitter post. So yeah, you can thank Andriasang for this story, and can probably get a better translation and more info there too.
Could the big announcement regarding FF13 that’s scheduled for September have something to do with Versus? One can only hope.

Between August 31st and September 2nd, Square-Enix will be hosting an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series. During this event, on September 1st, there will be a stage with an announcement regarding Final Fantasy 13.
The Final Fantasy XIII stage will be held on September 1 at 11:30. The stage is titled “Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga: New Developments Presentation.” Square Enix is promising details on the future of the FFXIII project. The game’s producer, director, art director and other members of the staff will be in attendance. – via andriasang.com
What could this announcement be pertaining to? Good question. Maybe it could have something to with Final Fantasy Versus 13. Or, maybe there could be another sequel in development. Either way, it looks like we have another month or so before we’ll find out.
